Mutton Pidi Masala

Ingredients

  • DH Rice Powder (pathiri / idiyappam) – 1 cup
  • DH Jeera – ¼ tsp
  • DH Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tbsp
  • DH Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
  • DH Chilli Powder – 2 tsp
  • DH Pepper Powder – 1 tsp
  • DH Garam Masala Powder – 1 tbsp
  • Mutton – ½ kg
  • Onion – 2 (sliced)
  • Tomato – 2 (chopped)
  • Curry leaves – 2 sprigs
  • Coriander leaves – 2 sprigs (chopped)
  • Oil – 3 tbsp
  • Salt – to taste
Mix rice flour and jeera. Boil water with salt. Add the required amount to the rice flour and mix with the back of a spoon. Knead into smooth dough and make tiny balls out of it. Steam-cook these rice balls and keep aside to cool. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add onions, tomatoes, ginger garlic paste and curry leaves. Sauté well. Add all the dry masalas and mix well. Add the mutton pieces, salt and fry for a minute. Pour one cup of water and pressure cook till the meat is cooked. Add more boiling water if the gravy is too thick. Remove the lid, reduce the flame to minimum and add the rice balls. Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
