Idiyappam Nirachathu
Ingredients
- DH Rice Powder (Idiyappam podi) – 2 cups
- DH Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tbsp
- DH Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
- DH Coriander Powder – 1 tbsp
- DH Chilli Powder – 1½ tsp
- DH Vegetable Masala – 1½ tsp
- Carrot – 1 (chopped)
- Green Peas – ¼ cup
- Cauliflower – ½ cup (chopped)
- Chicken pieces (boneless) – ¼ cup (optional)
- Onion – 2 (sliced)
- Tomato – 1 (chopped)
- Coriander leaves – 1 sprig
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Water – as required
- Salt – to taste
Heat oil in a pan. Add finely sliced onions, salt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and vegetable masala. Sauté well and add chopped tomatoes and coriander leaves. Add chopped carrot, green peas and cauliflower. Pour a bit of water and cook well. The masala should be semi-dry. You can also add boneless chicken pieces to this masala. Boil water with salt and a few drops of oil. Add this to the rice powder and mix into a smooth dough. Oil a steamer/ idiyappam plate. Squeeze a layer of idiyappam. Spread the masala mix on this. Squeeze another layer of idiyappam to cover this and steam cook till done.
