Semiya Chicken Biryani
Ingredients
- DH Roasted Semiya – 1½ cups
- DH Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
- DH Chilli Powder – ½ tsp
- DH Coriander Powder – 1½ tsp
- DH Garam Masala – ¾ tsp
- Oil- 2 tbsp
- Ghee – 1 tbsp
- Cardamom – 3
- Cloves –3
- Cinnamon – 2 pieces
- Chicken pieces – 1 cup (boneless)
- Onions – 1 (sliced)
- Green chillies – 2 (chopped)
- Tomato – 1 (chopped)
- DH Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tsp
- Coriander leaves – 1 sprig (chopped)
- Mint leaves – 1 sprig (chopped)
- Green Peas – ¼ cup – optional
- Water – 3 cups
- Salt to taster
Heat oil and ghee in a thick-bottomed pan. Add cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, onions, salt, green chillies and ginger-garlic paste. When the onions start turning soft, add chopped tomatoes, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala and sauté well. Add the chicken pieces and sauté till the chicken pieces turn white. Add green peas (optional) and mix well. Pour in 3 cups of boiling water. Add the Semiya, while stirring continuously. Add finely chopped coriander and mint leaves. Close with a lid and cook till done. Serve hot.
