Tangy Lemon Idiyappam

Ingredients

  • DH Instant Idiyappam – 1 packet
  • DH Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
  • DH Asafoetida – 1 pinch
  • Oil – 1½ tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – ¼ tsp
  • Urad dal (uzhunnuparippu) – ¼ tsp
  • Green chillies – 3 (sliced)
  • Curry leaves – 1 sprig
  • Ground nuts (dry roasted) – ¼ cup (optional)
  • Fresh or frozen Green peas (boiled in salted water) – ¼ cup (optional)
  • Lemon – 1
  • Salt – to taste
Immerse the readymade idiyappam in salted boiling water for around 40 seconds and drain the water completely. Heat oil in a pan. Splutter mustard seeds and urad dal. Add green chillies, curry leaves, turmeric powder, asafoetida, salt, green peas and groundnuts. Switch off the flame and add lemon juice. Add the cooked idiyappam and toss lightly. Serve hot with a Double Horse Pickle of your choice.
